MCS Mechatronic manufactures computerized and servo control universal testing machines in Kolhapur, India, and exports them to steel mills, pipe plants, construction laboratories and universities across South Africa. One machine handles tensile, compression, bend, shear and transverse tests on metals, rebar, wire, polymers and building materials, from 100 kN up to 2000 kN.
South Africa has the most developed industrial base in Africa, with mining, automotive manufacturing, steel production, power generation and a large lifting-equipment sector. SANAS-accredited labs, OEM supplier requirements and mining safety rules keep demand for precise, traceable material testing high. A reliable UTM sits at the centre of that testing, and both of our UTM ranges are built to give repeatable results under daily production loads.
Buyers in South Africa usually choose between two MCS models. Both share the same controller, software and capacity range; the difference lies in how load and strain rate are controlled and how specimens are gripped.
MCS-UTE series
The workhorse hydraulic UTM for tensile, compression, bend and transverse tests, driven by the MCS-MC01 controller and Unitest-Plus software.
MCS-UTE-S / FLG series
Closed-loop servo control of load and strain rate with a front-loading crosshead and hydraulic grips, built for high-volume and rate-critical testing.
| Feature | Computerized UTM (UTE) | Servo Control UTM (UTE-S) |
|---|---|---|

Detailed model-wise data (clearances, ram stroke, straining speed, dimensions and weight) is available on the computerized UTM and servo control UTM pages.

Our machines are used by mining houses, automotive OEMs and component suppliers, steel producers, lifting-gear makers, power utilities, SANAS-accredited labs and universities. Typical South African applications include:
Yield strength, tensile strength, elongation and bend/re-bend checks on reinforcement bars
Tensile coupons from plates, pipe and welded joints for mill and project QC
Breaking load and elongation of wires, strands and conductors
Proof load and tensile tests on bolts, studs and forged parts
Compression and flexural tests for site and third-party laboratories
Teaching and research on metals, polymers and composites
MCS universal testing machines conform to IS:1828 and ASTM E8, and are used for tests carried out under methods such as ISO 6892-1 (metallic tensile testing), ASTM A370 (steel products) and the rebar tensile and bend clauses of ASTM A615 / BS 4449.
In South Africa, product conformity is overseen by SABS (South African Bureau of Standards), and laboratories that issue accredited reports work under SANAS (South African National Accreditation System). Unitest-Plus reports carry load, displacement and extension data with stress-strain curves, and can be exported to PDF or Excel for your lab records and client submissions.
We supply universal testing machines to industrial cities and project sites across South Africa, including:
Machines are packed in seaworthy export cases and shipped from India to Port of Durban, Port of Cape Town and Port of Ngqura.
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the machine's calibration certificate are supplied with every shipment.
Online operator training on the machine and Unitest-Plus software, with remote technical support from our team in India.
Yes. MCS Mechatronic manufactures computerized and servo control universal testing machines in Kolhapur, India, and exports them to customers in South Africa. Machines are shipped in export packing to ports such as Port of Durban and Port of Cape Town.
Both cover 100 to 2000 kN and run on the MCS-MC01 controller with Unitest-Plus software. The servo control model adds closed-loop servo-valve control of load and strain rate, hydraulic grips with a front-loading crosshead, and a finer 0.01 mm displacement resolution, which suits high-volume and rate-critical testing.
Capacity depends on the largest bar diameter and grade you test. As a guide, 600 kN suits bars up to about 25 to 28 mm, and 1000 kN or 2000 kN covers 32 to 40 mm bars and higher grades. Share your bar sizes and grades and we will recommend a model.
MCS UTMs conform to IS:1828 and ASTM E8, and are used for tensile, compression and bend tests under methods such as ISO 6892-1, ASTM A370 and the rebar clauses of ASTM A615 and BS 4449.
Accredited labs in South Africa work to ISO and ASTM methods under SANAS. MCS machines conform to IS:1828 and ASTM E8, and the test reports from Unitest-Plus can be laid out to suit your SABS or client specification. Machines can be verified on site by your accredited calibration provider after delivery.
Standard models run on 400 to 440 V three-phase power. South Africa's three-phase supply is 400 V at 50 Hz, so please mention your site voltage and frequency in your enquiry and the motor and drive will be matched to it.
Tell us the material, specimen sizes, maximum load and test standard, and we will recommend the right model with a delivered price.
