Horizontal Chain & Rope Tester Supplier for South Africa

MCS Mechatronic manufactures electronic horizontal chain and rope testing machines in Kolhapur, India, and supplies them to lifting gear makers, mining and offshore suppliers, ports and inspection agencies in South Africa. The horizontal bed takes long specimens of chain, wire rope, slings and fittings and tests them in tension up to 3000 kN.

South Africa has the most developed industrial base in Africa, with mining, automotive manufacturing, steel production, power generation and a large lifting-equipment sector. SANAS-accredited labs, OEM supplier requirements and mining safety rules keep demand for precise, traceable material testing high. Lifting chains, slings and wire ropes must be proof-load and break-load tested, and a horizontal machine handles their length easily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you export chain and rope testing machines to South Africa?

Yes. MCS Mechatronic manufactures horizontal chain and rope testing machines in Kolhapur, India, and exports them to South Africa through ports such as Port of Durban and Port of Cape Town.

What capacities are available?

Seven models from CR-10 (100 kN) to CR-300 (3000 kN), each with two auto-selected measuring ranges.

How long can the test specimen be?

The distance between the gripping heads is adjustable from 100 to 3000 mm in 500 mm steps, using motor-driven gear shafts.

What can be tested apart from chains?

Wire ropes, slings, shackles, hooks and other lifting fittings can be tested in tension with suitable accessories.

Can MCS machines support testing in SANAS-accredited labs?

Accredited labs in South Africa work to ISO and ASTM methods under SANAS. MCS chain and rope testers are accurate to ±1%, as per Grade A of BS 1610 and Grade 1.0 of IS 1828, and results can be recorded through the optional PC software for your SABS or client records. Machines can be verified on site by your accredited calibration provider after delivery.

Can the machine run on the power supply used in South Africa?

The supply voltage depends on the model. South Africa's three-phase supply is 400 V at 50 Hz, so please mention your site voltage and frequency in your enquiry so we can confirm the right electrical configuration.
