MCS Mechatronic has built drop weight tear testers in Kolhapur, India, since 1999, and supplies PLC-controlled DWTT machines to line-pipe mills, plate producers and pipeline testing labs in the UAE. The DWTT shows whether pipeline steel fractures in a ductile or brittle way at a given temperature, a key acceptance test for gas and oil pipelines.
The UAE combines heavy local industry with its role as the Gulf's trading hub. Steel and aluminium production, oil and gas services, large infrastructure projects and a dense network of accredited testing laboratories keep demand for testing equipment high, and many machines bought in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are re-exported to the wider Gulf and Africa. Every major pipeline project specifies DWTT results, which makes the test essential for pipe and plate suppliers.
Three automatic models with hydraulic shock absorbers cover standard and heavy-wall pipe.

Our machines are used by steel and aluminium producers, oil and gas service companies, construction material labs, cable and fastener makers, inspection agencies and universities. Typical UAE applications include:
DWTT on API 5L pipe for gas and oil pipelines
Fracture behaviour of pipeline-grade plate and strip
Material qualification for new transmission lines
Independent DWTT for pipe buyers
Low-temperature fracture research
Ductile-to-brittle transition studies with chilled specimens
MCS DWTT machines test specimens to ASTM E436, API RP 5L3, ASTM E208 and DIN EN 10274, the methods specified for line pipe and pipeline steel.
In the UAE, product conformity is overseen by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), and laboratories that issue accredited reports work under EIAC (Emirates International Accreditation Centre). The touch-screen panel shows drop height, energy and speed for every test, which can be recorded on your test certificates.
We supply drop weight tear testing machines to industrial cities and project sites across the UAE, including:
Machines are packed in seaworthy export cases and shipped from India to Jebel Ali Port, Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi and Port Khalid, Sharjah.
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the machine's calibration certificate are supplied with every shipment.
Online operator training on the machine and its software, with remote technical support from our team in India.
Yes. MCS Mechatronic manufactures PLC-controlled DWTT machines in Kolhapur, India, and exports them to the UAE through ports such as Jebel Ali Port and Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi.
It tests specimens according to ASTM E436, API RP 5L3, ASTM E208 and DIN EN 10274.
Automatic PLC-controlled models are offered at 30,000 J, 55,000 J and 80,000 J. The right capacity depends on your pipe wall thickness and grade.
Yes. A deep freezer that cools specimens down to -80 °C and a hydraulic notch-making press are available as optional auxiliary equipment.
UAE conformity rules under MoIAT reference international ISO and ASTM methods. MCS DWTT machines test to ASTM E436, API RP 5L3, ASTM E208 and DIN EN 10274, and the drop height, energy and speed of each test can be recorded for your MoIAT or client records. We supply the technical datasheet and documents your importer needs for customs clearance.
The supply voltage depends on the model. The UAE's three-phase supply is 400 V at 50 Hz, so please mention your site voltage and frequency in your enquiry so we can confirm the right electrical configuration.
Tell us the pipe grades, wall thickness and test temperatures, and we will recommend the right DWTT model.
